If you can weather the storm and continue investing during the volatility, you have a much better chance of coming out wealthier on the other side of this bear market. If you’re a long-term investor, it’s important to remember your investing time horizon. While some market crashes take longer to bounce back than others, over the long term, the market continues to go up. The stock market has always recovered and produced all-time high values after every bear market and recession. And the average decline in those markets is about 30%. For example, since the 1950s, the average bear market (a drop of 20% or more) only lasts 11 months. Especially after investing during an unprecedented rally since 2009, over a decade of (mostly) positive returns, and many years returning over 20%.īut instead of panicking while the market is correcting, it’s important to zoom out and look at the big picture. This would also explain how Magneto didn't die from his acceleration in* X-Men Days of Future Past*.Seeing red in the financial markets day after day, week after week can start to wear on your investing conviction. However, what if you are in some kind of warped time? In that case maybe your acceleration isn't so crazy large and you survive. The acceleration would be huge and likely kill you. Imagine being accelerated from zero to perhaps 10 m/s in just a fraction of a second. The landing isn't the problem, it's the throwing that would kill them. These people then fly through the air and either land in a pond or get caught by a blanket in a tree. Instead, he takes a few and just tosses them out the window. Near the end of the explosion, Quicksilver doesn't just carry people out of the house. Wait! I know this sounds crazy, but consider this. But it means that he doesn't actually run fast, he just moves at a normal speed in a non-normal time frame. How does he do this? Who knows? Maybe there is some type of space-time distortion field around him that he can also extend to other people. This means that he doesn't run fast, but rather time is moving slower around him. Maybe Quicksilver can jump off this time-car (which is just an analogy and not a real car) so that he can travel into the future at 1 second per hour. I can't stop this time-car, I can just ride it. Right now I am traveling 1 second per second into the future. For most humans, we are stuck in a car that moves down some road at a constant speed. Time is sort of like one of the space dimensions. If he doesn't run fast, then how does he do the stuff he does? My answer-he is able to partially control time. Quicksilver would not just be fast but very strong. But wait! If this is happening at super high speed then the shrapnel would have a super high change in momentum requiring a super high force. What about that shrapnel that is flying towards some of the X-Men? Quicksilver just comes in and lightly taps them in the air to move them to the side. How would he be able to push against all this air as he is moving? Imagine how hot Quicksilver would get if he was going at a speed of Mach 300 or more.OkK I get it that Quicksilver isn't technically "human"-but what about the people he pushes to save from this explosion? He has to push them with extreme accelerations that would likely kill them, and that's bad. Large accelerations are bad for humans. This wouldn't be enough to get up to a super high speed in a short time. How does he accelerate? If he pushes on the ground (like a normal human) he could probably get a maximum acceleration of a couple of Gs.There are a few problems with Quicksilver running this fast.
